Field Trip to Brussels: Public Policy, Ethical Fashion, and Economic Justice

On the occasion of the International Fair Trade Towns Conference, Brussels is exploring the drivers of fair trade at the urban and metropolitan levels. The day begins at the MAD Brussels Design and Innovation Center with a plenary session focused on integrating sustainability and fair trade into municipal and regional public policies. After a seasonal, eco-friendly lunch at MAD, participants will join participatory thematic workshops of their choice:

  • Resisting fast fashion: a workshop on analyzing the fast fashion industry and exploring textile alternatives, led by the nonprofit achACT.
  • Citizen Mobilization: a meeting and exchange of best practices on volunteering with the team from the Oxfam World Shop on Anspach Boulevard.
  • Economic Justice: an in-depth debate on equitable economic models with Oxfam Solidarité Belgium.

In the evening, all delegations will gather at the Wolf food market for a festive and convivial dinner.
